Business Reply Mail / Courtesy Reply Mail
Business Reply Mail (BRM) is a service from the US Postal Service that allows you to send any number of reply pieces (envelopes, cards or self-mailers) and pay only for those that are returned to you. BRM is designed to be automated so delivery times are comparable to First Class mail. BRM is the most cost effective way to provide reply pieces for a wide variety of mailings, including fundraising solicitations, surveys, subscription renewals, etc.
Courtesy Reply Mail is a design for reply envelopes where the postage will be paid by the recipient. These envelopes are most often used for bill payments, subscriptions renewals, etc, where the mailer wants the customer to pay the reply postage. CRM is basically a type of automated First Class mail using a special design. If you want your correspondent to pay return postage on a reply, CRM is generally faster than using plain envelopes or cards.
IMPORTANT! If you are sending a bulk mailing at the automation rate (whether it's First Class or Non-Profit Standard), the Postal Service requires that enclosed reply pieces must be either Business Reply Mail or Courtesy Reply Mail. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in paying higher postage.
Mail Services maintains a Business Reply Mail account with the Postal Services.
If you need help with your Business Reply or Courtesy Reply mail contact Printing Services or call 341-4264.
